in-toto Kitchens Cheltenham

Creating a White Sensation

This kitchen has recently been completed. A stunning, yet functional, open plan living space for a lovely couple and their two student age children, who enjoy spending time together cooking, dining and socialising with their family and friends.

I very carefully listened and took note of my customers’ requirements, to obtain a brief to enable me to create a functional, tactile, monochrome kitchen, bespoke bar and utility design, with a contrast of textures and materials.

Their previous kitchen was extremely traditional and the clients desired a sleek, contemporary, white, high gloss, handle-less in-toto kitchen. With frosted glass roller shutter units, matt white glass splashbacks and a clean, polished white solid surface worktop, with matching undermount sinks, a boiling water tap with the addition of chilled, sparkling and filtered water. Together with a breakfast bar to seat 4 and a natural oak floor. (There is nothing like the smell of a real wood floor).

They were keen to have a lot of storage and deep drawers, together with a desire to incorporate all AEG appliances. AEG were specifically selected due to high-quality, functionality, innovative and intuitive ease of use of their appliances. With the added attraction of the 5-year guarantee and the current AEG cashback promotion.

Their requirements were for AEG integrated tall fridge (with LongFresh) and no frost freezer, two full size quarter steam command wheel pyrolytic ovens, matching compact multifunction microwave combi, touch control combo hob with integrated extractor, to neutralize/remove unwanted smells and dishwasher to cater for everyday life, with the ability to cope with large family events, such as Easter and Christmas, were fulfilled. The shallow warming drawer and the three large/deep warming drawers were very important to them for their creative cooking and keeping food/plates hot, so everyone could eat together.

The layout was created for ease of use from storage and preparation to cooking and serving. The bank of tall storage also includes pull out internal drawers and shelving together with broom and ironing board storage. The large glass roller shutter unit houses their toaster, amongst other items they don’t wish to be on display.

Their utility room which leads in from the garden, needed to include tall storage for coats and shoes for outside. Also incorporated is a lot of bin recycling storage, as they are keen on considering the environment/green issues. Through my recommendation, they recycled their previous kitchen, by selling it on to be reused.

As the ground floor is open plan, the clients requested a matching curved bar area, where they can have fun playing snooker with friends and family, drinking cocktails whilst enjoying views of the garden and listening to music. This incorporates a white glass wine/drinks fridge and lots of storage.

I have carefully considered the lighting in all aspects of the design. For the evenings the kitchen and bar are tastefully illuminated.

I believe this is a rich and diverse space, not only visually pleasing but practical and functional, which enriches their home life and perhaps most importantly of all, they love spending time in it!
